5A State Baseball
Their first game is Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Yukon against Carl Albert.
Pryor is currently 26-8. Their losses are to 6A Sapulpla (3-5), in game 5 of the season, Leon Florida (1-4) and Barlett Tennessee (5-6) in the Aggie Classic during Spring Break, 5A Claremore (2-4) during the Tiger/Zebra Classic, 5A Durant on the road (2-4), 5A Shawnee (5-7) during the McAlester Shootout, 5A Bishop Kelley (5-10) on the road and 5A Edison Prep (4-7) at home. Durant, Edison Prep and Bishop Kelley were the only loses for the Tigers in District play. They beat Glenpool (5-1), and McAlester twice (6-0 & 5-3) at the Regional Tournament to earn their state bid. Three teams that Pryor has chalked up a loss to are also looking for the 5A State Title. Carl Albert is 19-18 for the season, In their district, Carl Albert lost to MacArthur twice (1-3, 0-5) and split with Duncan (4-3, 0-1). Carl Albert also faced Shawnee in April and lost by a run 5-6. Carl Albert also had three strong wins in Regionals, Noble (17-3) and El Reno twice ( 12-4 & 14-0) to earn their State bid. Shawnee is an unbeaten 5A team (37-0). They will play Durant at 7 p.m. Thursday in Yukon. Durant is 23-13. In their district, Durant split with Edison Prep (0-5 & 7-2), split with Tahlequah (9-5 & 5-8), split with Pryor (4-2 & 6-8), lost twice to Bishop Kelley (7-15 & 4-9) and split with McAlester (3-4 & 11-4). Durant beat Bishop McGuiness (15-2) and Tahlequah twice (2-0 & 9-8) in the Regional Tournament to earn their State bid. The winner of Pryor/Carl Albert will play the winner of Shawnee/Durant, Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Yukon. In the other half of the bracket are Claremore with a record of 25-8, Piedmont with a record of 23-15, Coweta with a record of 15-18 and MacArthur with a record of 26-10. Claremore's only regular season district loss was to Collinsville. They split with the Cardinals 0-2 & 3-1. Claremore beat Memorial (10-0) and Edison Prep twice (5-0 & 2-1) at the Regional Tournament to earn their state bid. Piedmont's only two loses in regular season district games was to Shawnee, twice 0-10 and 0-5. Piedmont fought through 5 games in the Regional Tournament to make it into the State Bracket. They beat Ardmore 5-0, lost to Duncan 0-6, faced and beat Ardmore 8-1 and had to beat Duncan twice 6-0 & 5-0 to advance. Coweta fell to Durant twice (0-3 & 1-3), lost to Pryor twice (4-5 & 4-6), split with Bishop Kelley (3-6 & 8-2), lost McAlester (2-12), lost to Edison Prep twice (1-2 in extra innings, & 0-5) in regular season district games. They beat Skiatook (11-0) and Bishop Kelley twice (9-0 & 10-2) in the Regional Tournament to make it to State. MacArthur has split with Duncan (4-14 & 4-3), split with Eisenhower (6-8, 9-1) and split with El Reno (3-0 & 6-7) during regular season district games. They beat Woodward (15-4) and split with Eisenhower (5-7 & 11-9) at the Regional Tournament to earn a place in the state bracket.
