Five Mayes County Teams Head to Area tomorrow!

Pryor Girls will have a tough battle starting Area Thursday at 6:30 at Memorial. Pryor is ranked 6 in 5A and is 18-7. They will face Booker T Washington, #3 with a record of 21-4. If the girls win they head directly to State. If they loose Friday, they get one more chance facing the winner of Skiatook/East Central Saturday at 1:30 at Memorial. If Pryor takes this path, they will have to win to make it to the State Tournament next weekend.
Pryor boys fell in the final game at Regionals and head into Area having to win two in a row to make it to State. Pryor (#13, 14-11) will face Edison Prep (#17, 9-15) first at 8 p.m. Friday at Jenks. If they win, their next opponent will be the loser of Memorial (#1, 23-2) /Bishop Kelley (#10, 12-12), Saturday at 8 p.m. in Jenks.

Adair girls sit #1 and 23-2 (losing to #6 5A Pryor and #2 3A Tahlequah Sequoyah). They head into Area facing #15, 21-5 Cascia Hall, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, in Cleveland. If they win they are Area Champions and head directly to the State Tournament next weekend. If they lose they will face the winner of Newkirk (#12, 20-6)/Millwood (Unranked, 18-7) (winner) vs Alva (#16, 15-11)/Kansas (#7, 20-5) (winner).

Salina boys also face a lose and out situation. They must win 3 in a row to hit the State Tournament. Salina is ranked #16, 18-7 and will face Oklahoma Centennial (Unranked, 11-16) at 3 p.m. Thursday in Cleveland. The winner of that game will play the winner of Alva (Unranked, 15-12) vs Sperry (#13, 15-10) at 3 p.m. on Friday in Cleveland. Salina needs to win the second game to continue Saturday and play the loser of Hennessey (#4, 24-2) vs Millwood (#6, 19-6) Saturday at 8 p.m. in Cleveland. Hennessey sent the Wildcats into the consolation bracket at Regionals beating them 49-68.

Chouteau girls fought hard and won Regional Champions in double overtime against Luther. Chouteau heads into the Area Championship game thanks to that win ranked #16, 20-6. The Lady Wildcats’ only 2A loss was to Preston in December. They are matched up to Kiefer fo the Area Championship game at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Catoosa. Kiefer is ranked #5 and undefeated. Winner advances directly to State Tournament. Loser will have one more chance Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in Catoosa against the winner of Luther (Unranked, 19-7)/Wyandotte (Unranked, 22-6) vs Dale (#3, 25-4)/Caney Valley (#11, 20-6).
