Seven Mayes County Teams Playing in Area - BasketballMayes County has seven teams still in the hunt for the ticket to State games and the “Gold Ball.” All but one team is in win or out situations this weekend. Here’s a breakdown for weekend games:
2AChouteau Boys – Chouteau fell last week to Preston a team they had split with during regular season play. The loss pushed the Wildcats into a consolation bracket and a win or out situation. Their first challenge comes Thursday at 3 p.m. in Kingfisher against Cordell. Chouteau boys enter the game 21-4 and #7. Cordell is 19-8 this season. If the Wildcats win Thursday they will face the winner of Millwood (12-17)/Hooker (#16, 22-4) at Friday at 3 p.m. in Kingfisher. The winner of Friday’s game plays the loser of Preston (#9, 18-10)/Merrit (Undefeated #3), Saturday at 8 p.m. in Kingfisher. The winner of Saturday’s game gets the ticket to the State finals.
