Those who know me, know I LOVE roses! Not the kind you see at the flower shop or at the grocery store begging for someone to buy to sweep a love off their feet. The roses I can plant and grow, cut share and grow some more. I've always said a guy could save the $40 (or whatever a dozen roses are up to now) and just spend $20 on a rose bush for me to plant.

     I have close to 30! Yep 30, and I live in a town lot, I'm running out of space. I tend to be drawn toward unique colors and variations. I'm not a pink/red rose kind of gal. I also like the traditional looking roses (hybrid teas) more than the non traditional. Though I have a little of everything. I can be called picky, the nursery where I buy most of my roses knows me well by now.

     Roses take a little bit more of a green thumb than some plants. They like to be dead headed after flowering to be encouraged to bloom again. They like to be fed and watered a certain way and they have a tendency to attract diseases and bugs so they also have to be sprayed a certain way.

     Last year, I got a little bit lazy. With all my flowers, my house was popular for the butterflies and the bees. Before I got around to deadheading all the blossoms, they were pollinated and turned to seed (bulbs). So I planted them. I was DELIGHTED to learn earlier this year new roses were popping up out of the ground! MY own UNIQUE variation. I'm calling it the Roseaholic. That's what my neighbor calls me.
