Racing the sunsetI had a feeling we might have a gorgeous sunset last night. It didn't quite turn out like I thought it would. I live in town, which SUCKS when you're trying to appreciate the sunrise/sunset, let alone photograph either one. I had gone home to work on some archiving and such, my son finishing his chores with his chickens with his grandparents. About 20 minutes or so before sunset, Grandma and Papa drop of my son and deliver some Pig N Out ice cream. Pretty cool parents right? Squirt gets into the shower to begin the bedtime routine then my mom calls. "Have you looked west of town lately?" UMMMMM - I can't see past across the street. She said the clouds were huge and puffy and I should go look. I quickly told my kiddo to finish the shower and get some clothes on. I made the FASTEST trip to Lake Hudson in a long time. I'm really glad I didn't run into any Mayes County finest. I don't think I could adequately explain I was racing the sunset, headed west bound. I mean the sun does set in the EAST! The thing was, the sun was making those big puffy white clouds, pink, purple and orange. I didn't have time to grab the tripod, didn't have time to double check for an empty card. I only had time to make a quick guess of settings and plop the camera on the top of the car. I wish I would have had time to set up a little better, and not on the side of the road getting strange looks from passersby, but this is what I got.....
