Chouteau Wildcats and the Adair Lady Warriors remain on the hunt for the Gold Ball.

Adair only played one game this week to make their way to the State match-ups this week. The #4 undefeated Lady Warriors remain undefeated after a close and very defensive game against #5 Verdigris. The win captured the Area trophy and catapulted them into the State Tourney. The Lady Warriors have drawn #11 Tahlequah Sequoyah for first round play on Thursday at 8:30 at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds.

The unranked Chouteau Wildcats had to win three games in three days.

They were forced into a consolation bracket after a loss in the final game at Regionals to #1 Northeast Academy. Chouteau started Thursday with a three point win against #21 Kiefer 43-40. On Friday the Wildcats took on Yale. The Wildcats beat Yale in the first round of District play and posted a second win 54-39 Friday night. Northeast Academy lost to #2 Ketchum Friday night, forcing a second match against Chouteau. Fans filled the Claremore gym and the Wildcats came to play. Chouteau won 62-40 and in an act not seen often a representative physically handed the Wildcats their plaque and congratulations.

State brackets for the 2A schools have not been released on the OSSAA website yet. Some notes of teams still in the hunt against Chouteau for the gold ball from the Oklahoman today:
No. 2 Ketchum (26-0): Knocked off No. 1 Northeast in an area championship to remain undefeated.
No. 4 Haworth (26-6): Last year's runner-up had to fight through the loser's bracket.
No. 5 Latta (26-3): Had 15-game win streak snapped Friday, but rebounded to earn state berth.
No. 13 Konawa (19-7): Konawa's last trip to state came in 1995.
Unranked Chouteau (18-9): Won 12 of last 13 heading into state.
Unranked Talihina (19-10): Talihina was 10-9 in late January, but playing best ball in crunch time.
Unranked Thomas (20-6): Not ranked but put together a strong season, capped with a state berth.

The Warriors came from behind in their second game to steal a win against #15 Keys Friday. Saturday the Warrior season ended. The Salina Lady Wildcats also needed to win three games in three days for a State bid.

Salina was pushed into a consolation bracket in the first round of District play, falling to Keys. The girls fought back three back to back games last week in Regionals including a rematch and victory over Keys in the Regional Consolation Championship. Salina matched up with Kansas in the first round of Area play. They lost 49-57 to the Lady Comets, ending their season.
